The Q3 Lens Ring is a lightweight and fast way of attaching filters on cinema prime lenses in situations where a regular matte box either weighs too much or takes too much room.

The magBox system was designed to do away with the need for sticky stuff or tape to attach filters when flying cinema prime lenses on drones. It will work as a replacement for a matte box when shooting inside cars or any tight location. The magnetic filter holder system allows quick filter changes without leaving sticky glue on filters. It also allows you to securely stack filters with ease.

Often prime lenses in one set will have the same front diameter so you'll probably be all set with one Lens Ring for most shoots. We recommend that you get one Lens Ring for each lens set you most frequently use. (And a Filter Frame for each of your filters). Adapter rings for use with different size lenses will is also available. The adapter rings are made to work with either the Q3 128mm or the Q3 114mm.

If you can't find the diameter you need let us know and well design it for you - at no extra cost. The only limitation we have is that we can't make a Lens Ring with a diameter larger than 128mm for the Q3.

We recommend having one filter frame for each filter in your kit. That way filter changes will be as quick as possible. This also removes the need to handle the filters and leaving fingermarks on the glass. 

Magnets are a key feature of the magBox. They're the reason you'll be able to make the fastest filter changes of you life! They're also the reason why the magBox has so few parts. Their technical term is neodyme magnets. Each one will hold 1.3 kilos of weight. To make absolutely sure your precious filters don't fall off we've put four of them on every one of our parts. If you still want to add some extra security there's a hole next to each of the magnets for a security wire.

Lens attachment

The Q3 attaches directly to the lens and is held in place by friction. There's a little bit of yield in the ring so when you tighten the adjustable locking screw the Lens Ring gets a good hold of the lens. If you're in doubt wether you're lenses have room for a magBox lens ring shoot us an e-mail and well find out for you. Make sure you don't over tighten the screw as this can ruin the threads or make the nut turn in the plastic (which in turn can ruin the press fit for the nut and you won't be able to unscrew the locking screw).

Flag
You can attach a standard LMB-5/25 size flag to top and/or bottom of the Q3.

This Lens Ring will hold both the 4x5.65 and the 4x4 Filter Frames.
